Feb. 20,2011
Hello there.
Well, the first work day for the year happened today. We got together at 9:00AM at the field. The goals were to repair the damage on the runway caused by weather and trespassing vehicles, clearing the brush and trees growing on the north landing path to the runway and to smooth out the mud track marks from vehicles in the north east corner of the runway. Also to smooth out the entrance dirt road to the field. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!!
We poured nine bags of premixed concrete to patch to areas of the runway that were damaged. Gary Elliot was instrumental on getting this done the right way. We followed his lead and the repairs look great. Larry, Charlie and the Schodt's took the task of clearing brush and trees with chainsaws on hand.
Many thanks to J.T., Larry Harris, Larry McMillen, Charlie, Joe Schodt and his two sons, Gary and Jack. Thanks to Bruce who sent us donuts and drinks. Was great to see Jack Hepting back from having surgery.
There are some finishing touches pending and of course ongoing maintenance required throughout the year. I will keep you posted of future workdays and mowing days.
